The Dorade team, led by owners Matt Brooks and Pam Rorke Levy, had a busy and successful racing season this year, competing in some of the most esteemed regattas in the northeast. The 52-foot yawl finished on the podium in all nine events; winning its class at the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta and the Marblehead Corinthian Classic Yacht Regatta (Panerai –Vintage Corinthian Yachts); and coming in second overall in the Panerai North American Classic Yacht Challenge.

“We have heard so many great stories about sailing these New England races — and now we’re hooked, looking forward to returning and sailing here again for many years to come, ” said Levy.

More about Dorade:

Dorade was designed in 1929 by Olin Stephens and built under his brother Rod’s supervision the following year in City Island, New York. The 52-foot yawl pioneered a new era of yacht design with its progressive build winning more ocean races than any other yacht of its time. Skip to the present, 87 years later, owners Brooks and his wife Pam Rorke Levy are continuing its legacy, racing the classic yacht at the highest level in some of the most challenging events around the world.

Last year, the team successfully wrapped up its four-year “Return to Blue Water” campaign to repeat all of the major ocean races the yacht won in the 1930s; Dorade finished on the podium for the 2,800-mile Transatlantic Race, taking second place in IRC 4 and the Classics Class, and the Rolex Fastnet Race, where it took second in IRC Class 4 and seventh overall out of 356 boats. Before that, Dorade won overall on corrected time in the 2013 Transpacific Yacht Race and won its IRC Class in the 2014 Newport Bermuda Race.
