Dorade kicked off Audi Hamilton Island Race Week on Sunday, August 20 and after winning today’s race in the IRC Passage Division 2 Class, the team holds second place overall.
“We had a good day today — racing in 8-13 TWS — and relatively flat water, but it was a very challenging race with lots of boats and a constantly changing environment,” said Tactician Kevin Miller adding that the race was scheduled for 34 miles but Race Committee shortened it to 28 miles, allowing the team to get back to the dock before sunset. “After today’s race, we are back in the hunt for the podium. The boat and team are performing well and we’re getting better every day.
“Tomorrow is meant to be the longest race of the week, however the forecast is for very light air so it sounds like they may select a shorter course, hopefully.”
Tomorrow’s race is the last before a lay day on Wednesday. The team along with the rest of the fleet will continue racing Thursday, August 24 through Saturday, August 26.
