After a wait that seemed to go on forever including a change of flights to accommodate a late ship arrival, Dorade was finally hoisted aboard the ship this afternoon. It happens to be the exact same ship that sailed her over to the med for the highly successful summer season. Let’s hope that her ride back to Chester PA is as smooth and uneventful as the last sailing.
Although of course the load masters are highly professional in their work, you can’t help but feel like an anxious parent as the ships crane takes up the load and starts creaking as the priceless historic yacht you are responsible for swings precariously next to a hulk of steel. Of course the lift went smoothly, the hardest part of the process is always getting the correct strop length so that she is lifted level and not bow down. It’s not every day that these guys get to lift out classic yachts with full keels.
So I am now boat free for almost three weeks but rest assured there is a lot of planning and organising going on in the background. This is a program that never rests on its laurels.
