After two productive days at Yacht Haven in St. Thomas, we delivered DORADE around to St. John. We have a mooring in Coral Harbor to use as home base until Matt and Pam arrive next month. The island hop went well in some very typical Caribbean conditions. Just outside the harbor in St. Thomas, we motored through a good size rain squall. The rest of the 20 mile trip was dry but almost all dead upwind into a healthy chop. At 2800 rpm we averaged 4kts, which given the headwind and the waves, seems reasonable. Thought it would be a good engine sea trial to motor for a few hours. Off Ram Head which defines the South East corner of St. John, we were able to set the yankee and sail the remaining beat to reach to run into Coral Harbor. Upon picking up our mooring we were treated to another squall followed by a vivid double rainbow. Thank you to Jay and Mary (Kyle’s parents) for joining us!
