Gabe has been charged with making the forepeak an efficient space for sail handling and stowage. His first job has been to build a raised platform to reduce the depth of the aft section of the forepeak. Previously the drop in was nearly six feet. Now the average person will be able to hand sails in and out with their shoulders above deck. The teak platform is removable in 3 sections for underneath stowage. The aft section will be removed to reveal access to an anchor cradle. The woodworking problem of sole board layout has been elegantly solved by fitting equally tapered staves. Stay tuned for more fo’c’sle upgrades including more stowage considerations and a new hatch.
