We have been working with Phip at Rig Pro on testing various materials and thicknesses for the new mast hardware. Sample tangs are pulled to 8000 pounds stopping every 2000 pounds to measure hole elongation. All recorded data has been forwarded to Greg for evaluation. Preliminary results look to using phosphur bronze as the material in varying thicknesses specific to load requirements. All the hardware will be cut locally on a computer controlled high pressure water jet cutter. This method yields accurate results in a fraction of the time. As soon as the wood spar is finished it will be trucked to LMI and it will be all hands on hardware installation and rigging fabrication.
