2018 ONION PATCH CAMPAIGN
The biennial Onion Patch Series features the Newport Bermuda Race, which is nicknamed the "Thrash to the Onion Patch." (At one time, Bermuda exported tens of thousands of onions to the U.S. market.) The international Onion Patch Series started in 1962 as a team event between countries but in recent times has been an event combining individual results in the New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club Anniversary Regatta on either side of the 635-mile Newport-Bermuda Race. While Dorade sailed several races in the summer of 2018, we named our campaign the Onion Patch Campaign in honor of the series, in which we were fortunate to win first-place silverware in the Navigator's Division as well as the RBYC Anniversary Regatta.
