The caption reads: The 51-foot yawl Dorade sweeps across the Diamond Head finish line – the first boat to arrive at Honolulu in the biennial Trans-Pacific yacht race from Santa Monica, California. The Dorade is owned by James Flood of the St. Francis Yacht Club, San Fancisco, and was skippered by Myron Spaulding. She won the 1931 trans-atlantic race to England, establishing a 17-day record. 13 days, 7 hours and 20 minutes was the time for the Pacific crossing. Photo dated 7/24/36
