Dorade participates in Eastern Yacht Club’s Antique Boat Night on August 9, 2012. This event featured the dockside viewing of five classic yachts followed by Dinner and a presentation. The event started with dockside viewing of the 1930 Dorade , the 1926 Alden Q boat Noreaster, the1903 Herreshoff gaff rigged cutter Nellie, the Concordia Yawl Christie and the Herreshoff 31Lilly. I was very impressed with the interest and knowledge of the folks that came down to see the boats and with how gracious the other owners were to make their boat available for inspection. Following the yacht viewing a group of 80 people migrated up to the Eastern Yacht Club for a sit down Dinner and followed by the Dorade presentation I gave over dessert. This presentation was as an updated version of the presentation Greg and Matt Brooks have made to the St. Francis Yacht Club and the Spaulding Wooden Boat Center. The group was very attentive and asked good questions. In summary, the event was a huge success and kudos to Nate Burke and Jeff Boal for organizing this event that was a great prelude to the Corinthian Yacht Club’s Corinthian Classic Yacht Regatta.
