Compass Adjustments

Compass Calibration
Jim Thompson and Capt. Alex

During Dorade’s first week in St. Maarten two of the refit engineers, Jim Thompson and James Harrison, were on board fine tuning some of Dorade’s systems.  Jim Thompson pictured above, designed Dorade’s electrical system.  On Sunday the 29th of January Dorade left the dock at Puerto Cupecoy, to make compass adjustments.  The only place in Simpson Bay Lagoon with enough depth, in a large enough area to motor around in circles, was in front of the bridge, near the yacht club.  Jim successfully calibrated the compasses, while Capt. Alex steered Dorade around in circles.
