As mentioned in an earlier post, we have managed to internalize a couple of the mast control lines. Greg has done a great job with the engineering here. The other Greg, one of our carpenters on the mast team is fitting these tricky bits beautifully to the spar. The thumbnail photo is of the upper exit box for the pole topping lift. The sequence below shows the construction and reinforcement of the cut aways and boxes. In photo one, we see the rectangular cut out lined with G-10. In photo 2 a G-10 plate is let in to the wood and glued to the rectangular G-10 box. Photo 3 shows the bronze exit structure itself let in to the spar on top of the reinforcement. Carlos at CAM engineering has done an amazing job with these! Photo 4 is of the upper exits for Main and Genoa halyards. G-10 boxes let in to the mast where the sheaves sit provide extra bearing for the thru pins which are incorporated in to the mast head strapping.
