On this blustry October day Dan is preping the deck for a repair in the teak. There was a pronouned bit of open grain in one of the deck planks near the mast. It could have easily cracked in the hot Caribbean sun. Therefore we are re facing the plank 1/8″ deep for six feet from where it meets the spin pole chock to where it butts up to the forward hatch. Just filling the crack with epoxy would have failed over time. The cap over the crack will ensure that the repair is protected from sun, moisture and the flex of the deck.
