In the September 1933 issue of Yachting Magazine, Dorade was featured for winning the Fastnet Race. The article is a thorough account of the race and the 52-foot yawl’s performance with Sherman Hoyt at the helm. Writer Weston Martyr wraps up his chronicle with the following observation:

“Dorade logged eight and one fourth for the first four hours after rounding the Fastnet, while the others were doing round about six.  I can’t understand it.  Dorade is a miracle, not a yacht.  It isn’t fair to send her over here.  She ought be to be stopped.”

On Sunday, August 16, Dorade will take on the legendary 603-mile race again, with owner Matt Brooks at the helm. Tune in here for nightly race reports from the team during the 2015 Rolex Fastnet Race.
