Back in Corsica

Dorade motored back to the harbour in Bonifacio, Corsica this afternoon after winning the final race in this year’s Corsica Classic Regatta, cinching the top spot in her class and taking home the Skylark Trophy as the overall winner in the regatta.

Eight days of racing took the fleet of classics around the island with stops in many of the island’s most beautiful destinations. Conditions were extraordinary in their variety, from extremes of light and heavy winds and seas. Festivities included a trophy ceremony in the Ajaccio city hall under an extraordinary portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte, who was born and raised in Corsica, and a barbecue on the beach near Ponte Vecchio, with whole veal roasted on a giant spit. The entire race organization was extremely hospitable and welcoming, and we look forward to sailing there again in the years to come.
