At the New York Yacht Club Annual Awards Dinner, Matt Brooks was surprised to win the club’s top honor, The Mosbacher Trophy, which goes to the club’s Yachtsman of the Year. Matt received the award in recognition for his achievements with both Lucie and Dorade.
The Mosbacher trophy is a Steuben crystal piece commissioned in 2008. It is named for the 1984-85 Commodore of the New York Yacht Club, Emil “Bus” Mosbacher, Jr. The Trophy recognizes a Club member who has demonstrated exceptional performance, merit or achievement in yachting. It is awarded at the sole discretion of the Flag Officers. Past recipients include Rambler owner/skipper George David, and Rear Commodore Rives Potts.
