Rope on the left is double braid poly by New England Ropes and is a sample of what Doradecurrently sails with. Rope on the right is poly spec from Nova Braid and is being considered for new halyards on the new spars. A third option is available from Gleistein Ropes in Europe. We are looking at subtle color coding using slightly different solid colors or some system to keep the rigging sorted for easy use in the heat of battle. Much thought is being given to minimizing weight and windage aloft. We are looking at sneaking a coule of halyard tails inside the mast to eliminate some of the confusion aloft created by all external halyards and lifts.
We have settled on and ordered rope for the Running Rigging. We have finally got samples from New England Ropes of their “Endura Classic”. It is a total winner. An aesthetic knockout with a spun buff cover, and a great product inside of SK 75 Dyneema. The rope will have excellent grip and strength. It is low stretch and really looks the part for DORADE. Merriman style snap shackles will be fitted where needed to the halyards and control lines.
