Transpac Race Update 2013-07-12

We are coming up on 96 hours of racing. We have chipped away at the leader’s lead, and currently we are only 15 minutes behind them on CORRECTED TIME (Actual time multiplied by each boat’s time handicap). We hope to overtake them today. We have sailed 740 nautical miles and we have just under 1500 to go. We have been averaging about 8 knots with about 12-17 knots of wind speed. Skies are still overcast and we can see a boat within 5-6 miles of us and we are trying to out-sail them and catch up. All are in good spirits aboard, spinnakers are up and we are heading straight for Hawaii.

Location as of July 12, 2013 12:30 EST

Latitude: 29.541956
Longitude: -131.490576
Heading: 270 degrees
