Jane Mitchell pictured above is sanding the port cap rail in preparation for a new coat of varnish. During this week, and next week, Capt. Alex and Jane will apply two coats of varnish on everything except for the spars. The cap rail will get an additional 3rd coat before the Heineken Regatta.

The outside of the sheerstrake, transom (in and out), inwales, trunk, daggar board, rudder, tiller, thwarts, thwart risers, knees, oarlock blocks for the rowing stations will all be bright. The inside of the sheerstrake will be painted white. The picture from the aft end of the dinghy that shows several frames installed.

Sunday DORADE got measured for the CSA rating in Nanny Cay, Tortola. All of the boats measurements were double checked against Greg's dimensions. Off the coast of St. John, Matt goes up the main mast of Dorade for the first time. Rod Stephens did it without a top rope, but he was forty years younger than matt at the time!

The construction of the Dorade dinghy is making steady progress. The IYRS students are doing a great job planking the dinghy. The planking is likely to be completed in the next week. After that is completed, the students will begin work on the riveting and framing.

Another Dorade mention in Classic Boat Magazine from December 2011. These S&S designs, Skylark, Argyll, Stormy Weather, Cometa and Manitou are billed as the "Daughters of Dorade" as the gathered for this year's Voilles de Sant Tropez.
