Dorade made her first mark in the sailing world 84 years ago when Rod and Olin sailed her to victory in the 1931 Transatlantic Race, and last week the 52-foot yawl returned to Cowes, England after finishing the very same event and beating her original time by over 26 hours, despite racing more than 300 […]

From the race organizers: One of the greatest stories of this Transatlantic Race 2015 is the participation of Dorade, the 53’ yacht that a young Olin Stephens, of S&S design house fame, campaigned in this same race 84 years ago. Today the restored boat is being raced by Matt Brooks who won the 2013 Transpac […]

Dorade may have finished the Transatlantic Race yesterday, but their full journey didn’t come to an end until today at 15:40 UTC (11:40 EST) when the team completed the event’s separately-scored coastal race, which continued from the finish at The Lizard and took them an additional 169 nautical miles to the Royal Yacht Squadron finish line […]

July 13, 2015

Today (July 13, 2015) at 13:00 EDT, Matt Brook’s 52-foot yawl Dorade finished the 2015 Transatlantic Race, beating Rod and Olin's 1931 record by more than a day, despite having gone almost 200 miles further due to this year’s exclusion zone. The team’s preliminary standings (pending the rest of the finishes) are second place in the […]
